Man, 60, Killed In Fiery Crash On Highway 120 Between Manteca And Escalon

ESCALON (CBS13) – Both directions of Highway 120 were closed after a deadly fiery crash involving a big rig and two other vehicles Tuesday morning.

The scene was at French Camp Road, between Manteca and Escalon.

According to California Highway Patrol, a big rig, SUV and sedan were involved in a crash just before 7:30 a.m. Officers say a 60-year-old man driving the SUV for, for an unknown reason, turned right into the path of the oncoming big rig.

A sedan that was following behind the SUV was also involved in the resulting crash.

Officers say the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old woman and a 7-year-old who were in the sedan had minor to moderate injuries.

Investigators believe neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash.

The road wasn't fully clear until a little after noon.
