A spokesperson from the base said around 3:13 p.m. the controlled burn burst out of control. Beale crews and outside agencies, including Cal Fire, battled the fire.

The Fam Camp, an RV lot where about 40 people stay, was evacuated out of precaution, the spokesperson said.

The controlled burn was set to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. but near the end of the burn, wind speeds increased and the fire spread "further than originally intended" a spokesperson said.

According to Beale AFB, the fire burned 400 more acres than planned.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries. No structures were harmed.

Crews will remain on the scene Wednesday night to mop up.
