Oregon Man Charged With Having Ammo Outside California Post Office

UKIAH, Calif. (AP) — A convicted felon from Oregon has been charged in California with unlawful possession of ammunition after he was arrested in July for punching an employee at a post office, federal prosecutors said.

Timothy Daniel Raybould made an initial court appearance Thursday, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release. He did not enter a plea. Contact information for Raybould, 27, could not immediately be found.

Raybould was arrested July 31 in the employees' parking lot of the Ukiah Post Office in Mendocino County, California. When three U.S. Postal Service employees asked him to leave, Raybould became agitated and punched one of them, according to the criminal complaint.

The employees tried to restrain Raybould and during a struggle the person who was punched suffered two fractured hips in a fall, the complaint said.

Mendocino County sheriff's deputies found a Glock .40 caliber magazine loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition in the back pocket of his pants, according to prosecutors. A search of Raybould's car, which was parked in the employees' only parking lot, uncovered a Glock .40 caliber pistol, prosecutors said.

Investigators haven't said what Raybould's motives were.
