MODESTO (CBS13) – The 11-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert earlier Sunday has been located and is safe.

The alert has since been deactivated, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was issued by the Modesto Police Department after Walter Fernando Zuniga Lara allegedly stabbed Adler Lara’s mother Saturday while in the parking lot at the Motel 6 in the 1900 block of West Orangeburg Avenue.

A short time later, it was reported that Walter Lara took the boy. He remains outstanding.

The woman has not been identified, but her condition has since been upgraded to stable, according to police.
