President Biden Delivers Remarks On Texas School Shooting

President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the White House Tuesday night after at least 18 students and three adults were killed in a shooting at a Texas elementary school.

The suspect in the Texas school shooting, an 18-year-old male, was believed killed by responding law enforcement officers, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.

The death toll was initially reported as 14 students and one teacher, but Texas Rangers upped the total to 21 late Tuesday afternoon. It was not made clear if the alleged shooter was included in that number.

CBS News reported that the district reported an active shooter at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, which is approximately an hour and a half west of San Antonio. The school teaches 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students, according to Uvalde CISD Police Chief Pedro Arredondo.

The shooting prompted a strong response from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who criticized Republicans.

"Another shooting. And the GOP won't do a damn thing about it," Newsom tweeted. "Who the hell are we if we cannot keep our kids safe."
