Heather Janssen is an award-winning reporter with a love for meeting people and sharing their stories.

She joined CBS Sacramento in 2020 after spending time in Tucson, Arizona. There she covered everything from the death of U.S. Senator John McCain to immigration issues on our southern border. She became known for her feature stories that showcased the heart of the community.

Heather also spent time as an anchor and reporter in Rapid City, South Dakota. Though, she’s #VegasBorn (Go Knights!) and was born/raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Heather has had a love for news since the 4th grade. She joined the school newspaper in middle school, majored in broadcast media at a college-prep high school and continued down the path at the University of Nevada in Reno, only two hours away from Sacramento!

Heather fell in love with Northern California in college and is so excited to finally call this area home.
When not working, you can probably find her snuggling with her cat, Emerson, taking a dance class or exploring with friends.

If you have a story idea or just want to say hello, she’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out to her via email or on one of her social media platforms.
