Laura Haefeli joined CBS13 in February of 2020. As an East Coast native, Laura is thrilled to call the west coast “home.”
She began her career at NY1 News in New York City where she covered a series of landmark stories including: the 2016 presidential election, Chelsea bombing, Thanksgiving Day Parade and New Year’s Eve Ball drop in Times Square.
Before joining the CBS13 team, Laura interned at Saturday Night Live and filmed video content for Guns N’ Roses before pursuing her dream of becoming a journalist.
As a reporter with News 12 Networks in New York City, she honed her breaking news skills covering the pipe bombs mailed to CNN’s Manhattan headquarters by domestic terrorist Cesar Sayoc. She also broke the news of an FBI drug & prostitution bust that resulted in several high-profile arrests. She simultaneously worked as a radio reporter for 1010wins in New York City covering breaking news & feature stories.
Before catching the “news bug” Laura was a competitive athlete, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. She earned her International Relations degree from Syracuse University and loves to root on her Orange.
When Laura is not on the air, she enjoys exercise, hiking absolutely anywhere, and is excited to hit the slopes in Tahoe. Laura believes with all her heart, the best pizza & bagels in the country can be found in the New York City area but is on the hunt for the best Mexican food on the West Coast. Laura is a huge dog-lover and hopes to adopt a pup while in California.
