- My Sisters House GalaMy Sister's House celebrated its 17th anniversary at the Crest on May 21st with timely performances by civic, corporate and community leaders from throughout the Sacramento region performing songs related to this year's theme, "RISE". Acts included songs from Hamilton, The Greatest Showman, and "Praying" with local me-too advocates. Funds raised support services for domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking victims. The event also honored the following Heroes of Hope including (volunteer hero) Nancy Woo; (law enforcement hero) (Seargent John Sydow, Sac County Sheriff's); and (corporate hero) Dignity Health. My Sister's House is a non-profit which specializes in providing services for Asian /Pacific Islander and other underserved victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Bounty and Beast Restaurant Kickoff Party in Midtown SacramentoBounty and Beast Restaurant VIP kickoff was on July 28th at the newest midtown venue on R & 17th Street at the end of the Ice Blocks Development. WIND Youth Services Summer Soiree and FundraiserWind Youth Services’ Summer Soiree was celebrated at the new Wind Youth Center at 815 S Street on Friday, July 27th. The fun evening of local food and drink was emceed by Rob Stewart of KVIE’s Rob on the Road. Wind Youth Services provides supportive services and opportunities to youth experiencing homelessness. It is estimated that on any given night in Sacramento, there are 250 homeless youth on the streets. Wind Youth Services aims to end the cycle of youth homelessness. The new Wind Youth Center will offer wrap around services for youth; it is here they can enter one front door and access case management, crisis counseling, a warm meal, clothes, respite and a hot shower. SMUD presented Wind a check for $100,000 as the largest grantee of the inaugural SMUD Shine Awards. The money from SMUD will fund the restrooms, solar and showers at the Wind Youth Center.
