Casa Garden Restaurant Dinner fundraiser with Chef Kurt SpataroOn February 2nd, Casa Garden Restaurant had a special “Pop Up” dinner with Chef Kurt Spataro. Chef Spataro team included the Casa Garden Restaurant Manager/Chef Vivian Cheung, Kitchen Supervisor/Chef Laura Ferrell and American River College Culinary Program Chef, Teresa Urkofsky. Garden Restaurant and Meeting Center operates solely to support the Sacramento Children’s Home.

Asian Resources Inc Lunar New Year CelebrationOn January 31st, Asian Resources, Inc (ARI) celebrated the 17th Annual Lunar New year with dinner and awards at Happy Garden Seafood Restaurant, honoring Assemblymember, Jim Cooper and Nilda Valmores, Executive Director, My Sister’s House. Asian Resources is a non-profit community based organization established in 1980 dedicated to providing multiple social services needed in our community, empowering everyone we serve to become a vital part of our changing, diverse society.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento Hammy AwardsOn January 30th the Habitat for Humanity 25th Annual Hammy Awards and Dinner was held at The Center at 2300. This annual awards and celebration dinner brings together Habitat supporters, donors, volunteers, and ReStore partners to celebrate all that was accomplished in the past year and recognize outstanding members of the Habitat support community. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
Sacramento Black Chamber Annual Installation and Awards LuncheonThe Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Installation and Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West on January 23rd for over 300 members, sponsors and supporters. It was the Chamber’s 34th Installation event. Awards were given to the SBCC’s Presenting Sponsor, SMUD who received the Community Partnership award and to Lorrie Clark, who earned the coveted Volunteer of the Year award. Lorrie is a Project Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Economic Development Department. Board members installed included: Marinda Sessoms, Lorrie Clark, Ira Williams, Michael Poindexter, Rahim Reed, Nicole Howard, Michelle Picard, Margaret Fortune, Chris Flores, Keon Huston, Robert B.J.
