- Make-A Wish Wine & Wishes FundraiserMake-A-Wish® Northeastern & Central and Northern Nevada celebrated the 32nd Anniversary of their signature event Wine & Wishes at the Sacramento Convention Center last Saturday night, April 6. The more than 800 guests enjoyed tastings from 80 plus regional restaurants, wineries, breweries and a wide array of silent auction items to bid on. The evening’s program also included an executive chef prepared dinner, 16 live auction lots that included wine and restaurant lots and several luxury travel lots. In addition, the Make-A-Wish mission was highlighted throughout the evening including the opening with wish recipient, Miles, who entertained the crowd by performing the song High Hopes by Panic! At the Disco. A poignant moment in the evening was showing a video, which told the story of Keannu, a wish recipient who battled a brain tumor and who wished to play football again with his team from Lathrop High School. Currently wheelchair bound, Make-A-Wish partnered with an international virtual reality company, EmergeXR, to creatively make his wish come true by producing a VR experience of Keannu once again playing football again with his Spartan teammates.
