- City Year Sacramento Gala “Ripples of Hope"On April 25th, City Year Gala “Ripples of Hope was held at the Golden 1 Center. Honoree was Vivek Randadivé, owner and chairman, Sacramento Kings for his commitment to the Sacramento community. The City Year AmeriCorps members serve students in seven Sacramento schools using, Whole School, Whole Child model. City Year Sacramento deploys 66 highly skilled AmeriCorps members to serve in seven schools impacting over 4,000 students at Father Keith B. Kenny K-8, Fern Bacon Middle School, Leataata Floyd Elementary, Oak Park Preparatory Academy, Oak Ridge Elementary School, Rosa Parks K-8 School, and Sacramento Charter High School.

Wide Open Walls ARTMIX at the Crocker MuseumOn August 8th, the Crocker Museum hosted ARTMIX to kick-off opening day for Wide Open Walls Mural Festival, August 8-18th. Wide Open Walls is a 501(3)(c) whose mission is to promote and celebrate public art. Wide Open Walls brings underserved neighborhoods public art that encourages a sense of pride and identity; provides community gathering spaces; generates impact, measurable economic growth for the Sacramento region; and promotes greater cultural understanding and appreciation amongst diverse groups. The organization’s mission is personified through its annual festival in August that brings local, national and international artists together to transform Sacramento with original and stunning street art. Additionally, Wide Open Walls supports other events throughout the year – including The Mural Jam, Sac Republic’s Paint The Park, and the Playa Art Trail.
