Wide Open Walls ARTMIX at the Crocker MuseumOn August 8th, the Crocker Museum hosted ARTMIX to kick-off opening day for Wide Open Walls Mural Festival, August 8-18th. Wide Open Walls is a 501(3)(c) whose mission is to promote and celebrate public art. Wide Open Walls brings underserved neighborhoods public art that encourages a sense of pride and identity; provides community gathering spaces; generates impact, measurable economic growth for the Sacramento region; and promotes greater cultural understanding and appreciation amongst diverse groups. The organization’s mission is personified through its annual festival in August that brings local, national and international artists together to transform Sacramento with original and stunning street art. Additionally, Wide Open Walls supports other events throughout the year – including The Mural Jam, Sac Republic’s Paint The Park, and the Playa Art Trail.

American River Parkway Foundation Summer Solstice Dinner and AuctionOn June 22, the Summer Solstice Dinner and Auction benefiting the American River Parkway Foundation was held at William B Pond Park. 300 guests and volunteers gathered together to support the American River Parkway Foundation at the 5th Annual Summer Solstice Dinner & Auction. Proceeds benefit the Parkway Foundation’s ongoing natural habitat restoration efforts along the American River Parkway. A dedicated portion of the proceeds will be used to build permanent restrooms at the Campfire Outdoor Educational Site at River Bend Park to allow schools to utilize the site for overnight activities.

She Shares Conversation with three Women from the Capitol in Governor Newsom Administration.She Shares on June 20th at the Sheraton Hotel, featured the top three women in Governor Newsom’s administration; Chief of Staff Ann O’Leary, Cabinet Secretary Ana Matosantos, and Legal Affairs Secretary Catherine Lhamon. Each of them has an incredible resume of working for President’s, Vice President’s, Presidential Candidates and different Governor’s. They shared their stories of how they got where they are today and what inspires them to be public servants. It was a candid conversation with women who don’t usually share their stories. Monica Lozano, seasoned journalist and CEO of the College Futures Foundation, moderated it. She Shares is in its 8th season. She Shares is a Sacramento based conversation series featuring trailblazing women leaders who have created a lasting impact for women in California and beyond. Each conversation is a candid and unrehearsed exchange with a prominent journalist moderator. She Shares events provide an opportunity for business and cultural leaders, public figures, elected officials and other professionals to network and to be inspired by the person journey of the keynote speaker. It also provides an opportunity for the next generation of women leaders to be mentored by accomplished professionals through our mentorship program.

Center for Fathers and Families 25th Anniversary and Salute to Fatherhood BanquetOn June 13, the 17th Annual Salute to Fatherhood Banquet and the 25th Anniversary Celebration was held at the Doubletree Hotel, honoring three Fathers of the Year, celebrating positive male role models in out community. The Salute to Fatherhood Banquet honors and highlights men in the community who have been exemplary fathers or father figures. Honorees: Bobby Jackson, Assistant Coach, Sacramento Kings Kevin Nagle, Chairman/CEO Sacramento Republic Albert Araiza All proceeds go to Center for Fathers and Families programs and services including MASTERS and Adult Services to support and empower Sacramento families. The Center for Fathers and Families (CFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency with a strong history of responding to the needs of fathers and their families by offering programs and services that lead to family growth, enrichment, and empowerment. Over the course of its history, CFF has impacted thousands of children, families, and adults in Sacramento County through one of our three main initiatives:
