Daffodil Hill Opens For 2019 Season
The Council for Giving FundraiserOn March 26, The Council for Giving held the first fundraiser fast pitch presentations for the year at Golden 1 Center in the Assembly Bar. The Council is a membership consisting of 100 men in the Sacramento area. They aim to mobilize the talents and resources to enhance and improve the non-profit organizations that are serving our local community. The goal is to provide long-term value and short term funding to deserving causes while fostering a professional atmosphere to network. Congratulations to the nonprofit organization Shoulder to Shoulder. The Community Academy offers comprehensive mentoring that includes personalized instruction and self-directed learning to underserved, underperforming middle and high school students so they can become free to imagine and real.

The Blue Heart International Snowflake Ball and FundraiserOn February 23rd the Blue Heart International 5th annual Snowflake Ball was held at the Willow Ballroom in Hood, Ca. This year’s epic winter wonderland themed ball featured heartfelt stories of survivors. Fine dining, dancing, signature drinks, an exciting live auction and non-stop entertainment. Established in 2014, Blue Hearts mission is to ensure the betterment of trafficked and sexually exploited survivors through transitional housing, to connect with adults and at-risk youth through active street outreach, and to bring awareness and prevention education to all.

Sacramento Black Chamber Annual Installation and Awards LuncheonThe Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Installation and Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West on January 23rd for over 300 members, sponsors and supporters. It was the Chamber’s 34th Installation event. Awards were given to the SBCC’s Presenting Sponsor, SMUD who received the Community Partnership award and to Lorrie Clark, who earned the coveted Volunteer of the Year award. Lorrie is a Project Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Economic Development Department. Downtown Sacramento Partnership hosted the 21st annual State of Downtown breakfastOn January 22, Downtown Sacramento Partnership hosted the 21st annual State of Downtown breakfast for more than 800 local community and business leaders to celebrate downtown progress made in the last year and be inspired for what’s to come. Alongside a very special JVance Stewart Community Service Award presentation in memoriam of board member Ali Youssefi for his commitment to making the city a better place for everyone, Michael Ault, executive director of the Downtown Partnership, shared new economic benchmarks building value in downtown. Former Deputy Mayor of Seattle Kate Joncas challenged the group to think big in the next decade and Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced Ron Burkle joined Sacramento Republic FC as lead investor to strengthen its MLS bid and hopes of a soccer stadium and entertainment district in the Railyards. Kaiser Permanente also announced they have finalized the purchase of 18 acres in the Railyards, where they will build a new state-of-the-art medical center. 2019 will be an exciting year for Sacramento!
