A Night Out In Downtown Sacramento

You've come to the end of a long week and whether you've been working diligently on legislation on our state's capitol or just finishing up on a busy week of finals at Sacramento City College, it's time for you to unwind. With cool to warm temperatures all year round, the weather's always right for a night out in Sacramento. And it's no coincidence that some of the best places to unwind are literally a stone's throw from the Capitol. Here are a couple of places in the downtown district you might like to visit while you unwind in Sacramento.
Dive Bar

It's not everyday that you walk into a bar and see  live mermaids swimming in tanks above you, but come to Dive Bar on a Friday or Saturday night and there's a good chance you just might. Dive Bar is the place to meet up with friends after a long week to just hang out. As mentioned, the biggest draw to the bar is the huge fish tank hanging above the bar. Dive Bar plays all sorts of music from old school to the new stuff, so you'll never feel left out. If you can't make it during the day, it's definitely worth the trip to come during happy hour, as the food is worth the visit.

The Park Ultra Lounge
1116 15th St.
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 802-3036

With three resident DJ's, a smartly designed club interior that flows uninterrupted into an outdoor patio, the Park Ultra Lounge offers a one-of-a-kind club experience. If it's the weekend, you'll definitely want to check out Park Ultra Lounge as they've got events and specials every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This club is very much catered to a more mature and older crowd (mid-20's early 30's) so if you want to rub shoulders on the dance floor with all the single ladies and gentlemen, this is the place for you. But if you just want to unwind with your friends and chill, you can do that too as there are plenty of booths to the side with available bottle service.

MIX Downtown
1525 L ST.
Sacramento, CA 95818
(916) 442-8899
www.mixdowntown.net

During the day, MIX Downtown offers some of the best small plates cuisine that California has to offer. Kobe sliders, Korean Beef Skewers and Cajun Shrimp Po-Boy's are some of the mouth water entrees they have available during happy hour that might wet your appetite when you're ready to clock out for the week. Getting closer to evening, MIX Downtown takes advantage of it's two story building setting and turns into a cozy nightclub complete with an "intimate dance floor" and plenty of comfortable couches and booths strategically placed. Staying true to its original architecture and vibe, MIX downtown is your club experience turned sophisticated.
