Best Bars With A Patio In Sacramento

While many parts of the country must endure unpredictable inclement weather, residents of the Sacramento area enjoy a more temperate climate with predictable periods of humidity. One favorite way to enjoy that weather is to sit with friends on the patio of a café or bar, enjoying a cocktail, craft beer or glass of wine while doing a little people watching.

Any list of bars with patios must have Der Biergarten in the No. 1 spot, as this casual and lively beer garden is all patio. Built on a vacant lot on the corner of 24th and K, one cargo container was set up to hold the bar supplies and another to house the restrooms, but everything else happens outside. Communal Biergarten tables were shipped over from Germany, and patrons can relax with their choice from a rotating selection of 32 draft beers. A short menu offers items like German smoked ham, cream cheese and onions served on a waffle with sauerkraut on the side, as well as sausage platters and warm apple strudel. There is no television nor music, but the patio is the perfect spot to people watch, play foosball, corn hole or ping-pong.

This tap room has a very comfortable courtyard patio, and patrons take full advantage of it even when the weather is less than hospitable. Capitol is part pub and part beer store, and the friendly employees love to talk about the world of brews. Craft beers are served by bottle or from 20+ taps; the bar only purchases one keg at a time, so the selections change continually. A recent tap list includes some harder to find brews such as Clown Shoes' Undead Party Crasher Imperial Stout, Sierra Nevada Close Call Kolsch and Coco-Lime Blonde by the brewers at Black Market Deception. No food is served, but the owners allow you to bring in your own comestibles or to have food delivered by nearby restaurants.

The café's interior is relaxed and casual-hip, with funky artwork and the occasional pink elephant.
