Best Bars With A Rotating Beer Menu In Sacramento

The list is long when it comes to watering holes in the Sacramento area that showcase specialty beers and microbrews. When it comes to places that regularly rotate their draught beer selection, it is easy to narrow that list to a select few. The following are the best of the best when it comes to an ever-changing tap line-up.

So far, the 21st century has lent itself to some very innovative and unique architecture. In 2010, a venue in New Orleans constructed a VIP lounge and balcony viewing area built entirely out of shipping containers. Like giant building blocks, re-purposed cargo boxes are now a viable option when designing a local hot spot. This 2014 brings us Der Biergarten, the Sacramento area's first container-based hangout. A fully outdoor establishment, day-to-day operations are ruled by the weather. As the website states, "If it's raining, we are closed." Even mother nature can't bring this place down, with a rotating list of 30 beers on tap ranging from meek to sheik. Der Biergarten rises above.

By and large, it usually takes time and effort for new restaurants and bars to build a following and gain popularity. Only a select few seem to "hit the ground running". With over 5,000 likes and more than 20,000 check-ins on Facebook, it's hard to imagine LowBrau just celebrated its one-year anniversary in December. The tap line-up changes often, providing a new beer experience each time.

Flaming Grill Cafe
2319 El Camino Ave.
Sacramento, CA 95821

Driving by the Flaming Grill Cafe, one would have no idea there is something great going on inside, using the term "inside" loosely because technically it isn't inside at all. During the winter, this outdoor eatery is protected with roll-down clear/red vinyl panels and heaters are cranked up to combat the cold. In the spring and summer, the panels are rolled up and the heaters give way to ceiling fans. The current list of 19 taps can be found on the website and is updated on a regular basis. This unassuming little cafe is one of the perfect spots to enjoy a burger and a cold one.

With a great patio in the courtyard, more than 20 beers on tap and an amazing retail beer selection (arguably one of the best in California), Capitol Beer And Tap Room definitely deserves a spot on this list. Passion takes dedication. While that is true, dedication has no place when it comes to this spot's draught beer list. With an ever-changing array of malty-hoppy goodness, this stay-in/take-out hybrid is one of a kind. Adding to its appeal, Capitol Beer And Tap Room is centrally located, close to Sac State University and just a few minutes from the downtown/midtown area.

A long-time Sacramento staple, Hoppy has been serving up every major style of beer to the masses for years. Hoppy is one of those brew houses that has grown in popularity over the years with many of its beers available to be purchased retail. Starting with light and creamy and moving all the way down to smokey and malty, these taps will take you for a wild ride. Ask about the "Brewers Specials" which includes suds changed out on a monthly basis and usually in small supply.
