Old Soul Co. was started by Tim Jordan and Jason Griest after they met at Naked Lounge Coffeehouse. Griest had moved to Sacramento to open the coffeehouse in 2002, and a longtime friendship turned into business with the artisanal Old Soul Co. coffee roasters. Along with incredible roasts, Old Soul has a great lunch menu. Stop by in the afternoon to catch up on work and enjoy some delicious eats

With pastries, coffee and free Wi-Fi, Insight Coffee Roasters offers all of the ingredients for the perfect way to start the day. And, since Insight is not open past 7 p.m., early morning is the best time to get some work done here. Insight Coffee’s pastries are some of the best in Sacramento. Try the chocolate raspberry scone or the almond croissant. Breakfast burritos are very popular menu items as well. All of Insight’s coffee is roasted here onsite at the Southside location. Check for free coffee and other specials with certain social media check-ins on Yelp and Foursquare.

Origin Coffee has free Wi-Fi and excellent coffee, but those aren’t the main reasons you should choose to work from here. Origin Coffee & Tea is actually a non-profit with all volunteer employees. Its primary mission is to fight against sex trafficking, both domestically and internationally. Employees volunteer their time in support of this important topic. So why not pick a coffeehouse with comfy loungers, free Wi-Fi and coffee profits that go towards making a difference?

This Natomas coffeehouse has some of the best coffee in Sacramento. Try the Maestro Coffeehouse’s wild berry mocha or toffee mocha while catching up on email. The only downside to spending too long at Maestro is the dim lighting. Some people find it too dark for extended studying, but if you’re working on a laptop, the lack of direct sunlight and glare is beneficial in most cases. Just note, like Insight Coffee Roasters, Maestro closes by 7 p.m. during the week so it’s not the best spot to visit for evening work sessions.
