A variety of creative local artisans will be selling unique, handcrafted items including jewelry, clothing, accessories, toys, pottery and other works of art. The studio, a photography cooperative, event and wedding space, art gallery and music venue, will be a festive place that day, and you will be able to find just the right presents for everyone on your shopping list.

Getting to the North Pole in time to buy festive holiday greenery from a certain red-nosed reindeer might be tough, but the Sacramento Zoo gives you the next best option. On the last Saturday and Sunday before Christmas, representatives of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) will be selling special decorations as a fundraiser. Festive homemade wreaths are available, as are kiss-inspiring mistletoe bundles grown right in the zoo. AAZK is a volunteer operated 501c3 nonprofit focused on education, conservation and high-quality care for zoo animals, and proceeds from the sale will benefit the AAZK Greater Sacramento chapter.

One of the perks of living in the Sacramento area is the wide array of locally grown produce, foods and products. It is easy to find great gifts among the market stalls, but come early for the best selection. Make a gift basket of fresh-picked fruits and vegetables; you can choose from many more varieties than you will ever see in a grocery store. Add in fresh flowers, flowering herbs, poinsettia and other plants, or choose from local wines, nuts, artisanal cheeses, olive oils, vinegars, fresh breads and baked goods, gorgeous wreaths and greenery and gifts made from locally grown lavender. Favorites include the great selection of honey varieties from Lienert’s and Glashoff Farms jams and sauces.
