Best Hookah Bars In Sacramento

The Arabic water pipe, or hookah, was used to smoke or vaporize flavored tobacco as early as the 16th century, and is still an integral part of Middle Eastern culture today. In recent years, hookah smoking has gained popularity in North America, particularly among young people, and hookah lounges and bars popping up in Canada and across the United States. While someone can smoke a hookah alone, it is more typically a group activity, and has a huge social component. Friends and acquaintances can spend hours hanging out around a hookah.

With a hookah, the vapor or smoke from the tobacco is funneled through a water basin before being inhaled. The tobacco, called shisha, comes in a wide variety of flavors. Traditional shisha is made by soaking roughly chopped tobacco leaves and stems in molasses, creating a thick, sticky texture. Flavors can be added through the addition of chopped fruit or liquid flavoring, making it taste sweeter and less harsh. Herbal shisha is becoming more widely available, and generally does not have nicotine. This allows more freedom of use in areas where traditional cigarette smoking in a place open to the public is disallowed.
