Each restaurant blends its unique cuisine-style to put a special twist to a classic scallop dish. Pan-seared Day Boat Scallops are served at Mulvaney’s B&L where owner Patrick Mulvaney combines fresh-picked, farm-grown ingredients into the midtown restaurant’s seasonally based menu. Depending upon the season, scallops at Mulvaney’s are served with a beet relish and cranberry bean succotash, or a sweet, creamed corn and fresh cherry tomatoes. Scallops ordered here are light, tender and flake just right. This dish is almost comparable to butter, each scallop just melts away with each bite.

Treat a friend or family member to an six-course chef’s tasting prepared by Chef Formoli. It’s a unique experience and the courses are created with seasonal ingredients and paired with wine. As a neighborhood restaurant in the farm to fork capital, the Waterboy’s take on this seafood delicacy includes seared Dayboat scallops and mussels with pork belly, French green beans, leeks, Jimmy Nardello peppers, fregola, Bouillabaisse broth and aioli. This year, the Waterboy celebrates 10 years in business since it first broke bread in 1996.

At Ella Dining Room and Bar food is served and plated so beautifully, it’s as if each dish is treated as art on a plate. For more than 17 years, the owners of Moxie have served a menu with a fresh, seasonal flair. With a slogan like “Moxie serves everything that runs, swims or flies,” it’s no surprise that scallops are just one of the many menu items done very well at this Downtown restaurant. Seafood specials include salmon, halibut, Chilliean sea bass, ahi, and of course, scallops. Order the scallops and expect them to arrive tender, juicy and served with baised farro, shallots, beets and mint vin.
