Speaking of putting the "giving" back in Thanksgiving, the SLF doesn't accept any government funds for their annual Thanksgiving Day dinner. They rely on the benevolent acts of Sacramento's citizens to make Thanksgiving happen for the less fortunate. Volunteer your time in the kitchen, on the floor or simply drop off some non-perishable (and some perishable items) to be used at the meal. Things like turkey, yams, green beans, potatoes, pie, utensils, napkins, plates and oven turkey bags are all needed from donors.
