Best Upcoming Dinner Theater Performances In Sacramento

Food and entertainment combined into one exciting evening is what dinner theater is all about. Nowadays, a dinner theater sometimes does mean dinner in a theater with some of the poshest accommodations for eating right in front of the big screen. But the age old tradition of combining a live stage act amongst the dinner tables that dates back to the early 1950s is still alive and well all over the United States, including Sacramento. Just because this is one of Sacramento's oldest dinner theaters (in operation since 1989) doesn't make the experience less exciting. The action is fast, and there is plenty of comedy, suspense, fun and delicious food to go around during the event. Actors are dispersed throughout the venue and guests are given certain titles and tasks. The person coming closest to solving the crime wins a special prize at the end of the night. Children must be 11 years old or older.

You're not going to find a lot of drama or suspense at this particular dinner theater, as it's all strictly comedy. This upcoming event features Chicago-based comedian and filmmaker Brett Walkow, who has built a name for himself all over Youtube and social media, so tickets will sell out fast. Since this is a strictly 21 and over event, there's a two-item minimum upon entering. But the dinner menu has some tasty offerings including chicken wraps, nachos, quesedillas, and salads so come hungry.

Alonzo Bodden was the winner of Season 3 on NBC's Last Comic Standing so you know his performance will be good. Alonzo's act and demeanor is described as "cynical yet also good natured" so although you never really know what you're going to get from him, it'll be in good fun. Tommy T's has a sizeable menu filled with burgers, sandwiches and appetizers amongst your typical American fare, so bring your appetite. And at $20 for general admission, you can't complain about the price.

Prices per participant at The Dinner Detective run for $70 a ticket, but for that price you get a four-course sit-down dinner and an interactive murder mystery show. Whether you go with a friend or a group, by the end of the murder mystery, you're bound to have made a friend. The reviews online point to a fun and lighthearted performance by the actors as well as generous portions with the food. Like other shows, there's a prize at the end for whoever comes closest to solving the crime. There's also a staff photographer who'll capture the best moments for you (for a price.) Tickets sell out fast.
