Walking Tour Of Sacramento's Midtown

Sacramento is a vibrant and friendly city. There is a treasure trove of history here. It is known as the City of Trees. Walking around the city is easy to do and there is much to see, any time of year. While there are many different and somewhat defined neighborhoods, the area around what is known as Midtown, which mixes with downtown, is an all around excellent bit of the city to explore on foot. The collection of Victorians, new and old apartments and smaller cottages is amazing. The tree canopy is vibrant throughout all four seasons. It is a true mix of great businesses and great people. Walking around the area is the best way to find the nooks and crannies that add to the ambiance here.

One of the many galleries that populate the Midtown area, the artwork at Gallery 2110 is worth a stop as you stroll about. The gallery is always looking for great works to showcase and the local scene is well represented. With shows that change on a regular basis, the selection of artists who appear in this art space is wide, with many different approaches to what art is. There are 20 working artists within the building, and the vibe here is definitely vibrant.

Aptly named City Bicycle Works, people here know the city, the streets and the bikes for all types of riders. A finely tuned staff is always ready to help. These people are bike riders and city people. While you are walking about, stopping in here may ignite a need for wheels. The routes in and about the city are well known and advice about where and how to ride in the cityscape will come in handy if you decide to add cycling to your city wanderlust.

You may have worked up an appetite while perusing the art gallery and bike shop. Fortunately, across the street from City Bicycles, Tres Hermanas can more than fill your need for refueling. The restaurant was started by three sisters, hence the name. Amazing northern Mexican cuisine is what's on the menu. Prepare to keep walking though, as the plates are large and it's hard to stop from cleaning the plate and wanting more. You'll need to walk it off after lunch at this spot.

Walk on over to J Street and head for the Gifted Gardener. This is not, by any means, your ordinary garden store. This luscious, wicked cool wonderland is a destination all by itself. Yes, you can by garden stuff here, and get good advice. You may also pick up art works, cards, whimsical doodads, books, flags and toys. Take your time wandering around. Look in all of the corners, turn over the books and peruse the shelves. While you may find something for your garden, you may just find some treasure that needs a home in your house too. It's a relaxing and enriching place to shop.
