Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Package Inside San Joaquin Co. Bank

LOCKEFORD (CBS13) – A suspicious package left behind in a San Joaquin County bank by a robber who claimed to have a bomb has been safely detonated.

The incident began around 10 a.m. Thursday morning at the Bank of the West in Lockeford.
Bank employees say the robber entered the bank claiming to have a bomb and demanded money.

He then left the suspicious package inside the bank and took off.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies immediately evacuated the bank and closed off part of Highway 12.

The bomb squad then sent a robot into the bank and extracted the suspicious package which was a purse or computer bag.

They then blew up the bag and found that it did not contain anything explosive.

The suspect has not been caught.
