Help For Friends Or Relatives In Japan
Congresswoman Doris Matsui has issued a statement regarding the massive earthquake in Japan including contact information for people wanting help finding friends or family who may be in Japan.
"The images of destruction in Japan are devastating. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan, and their loved ones around the world," said Congresswoman Matsui.
Sacramento-area residents who need assistance are encouraged to call the Congresswoman's Sacramento office at (916) 498-5600; or (001) (916) 498-5600 from outside the U.S. or Canada.
- U.S. citizens in Japan are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at the following website: https://travelregistration.state.gov. By enrolling, U.S. citizens make it easier for the Embassy/Consulates to contact them in case of emergency.
- Family members can also e-mail inquiries to the State Department at JapanEmergencyUSC@state.gov or call the State Department toll free at 1 (888) 407-4747 from the U.S. or Canada.
- If you have concerns about a specific U.S. citizen in the Tsunami zone outside of Japan, you can contact the Department of State at PacificTsunamiUSC@state.gov
