Sacramento Rescue Team Prepares For Japan Deployment

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento Urban Search and Rescue Team is preparing to go to Japan just in case they're called.

Crews searched through the old Sacramento dump using their dogs to search for hidden team members.

The dogs are capable of clearing an area in 15 minutes that would take someone pulling rocks an entire day.

The team says they're ready to help and are waiting for the call.

"I hope we do go because I know that if we get over there in a decent amount of time, there's a difference to be made. These guys (the dogs) will make the difference," said Sacramento City Fire Fighter Tim Robertson.

If FEMA calls on them they'll need to be at Travis Air Force Base ready to deploy in as little as six hours.
