Lost Phone Leads To Child Porn Arrest

FOLSOM, Calif. (CBS13) – An attempt by two workers to return a lost cell phone allegedly led to the discovery of child pornography, resulting in the arrest of the cell phone's owner, authorities said.

The Folsom Police Department said two maintenance workers found the phone near a Home Depot on Wednesday and tried to look up the owner's contact information in the device, but stumbled onto explicit material instead.

The phone was turned over to Folsom authorities, who found more than 40 images and videos allegedly showing young children involved in sexual acts.

Officers determined the phone belonged to 24-year-old Taylor James and contacted him at his Folsom home.

James admitted the phone was his but denied downloading or capturing any of the explicit images, police said.

James was arrested for possessing obscene material depicting persons under 14 and is being held on $50,000 bail.
