Spontaneous Combustion Blamed In Orangevale Garage Fire

ORANGEVALE, Calif. (CBS13) – Firefighters are blaming the spontaneous combustion of chemicals inside an Orangevale garage for an overnight fire.

Investigators say someone heard a popping noise coming from the garage of a home on Mississippi Bar Drive near Buffalo Avenue.

The homeowner went to the garage to check and saw flames filling the garage.

Firefighters say the man was working with staining oil during the day Wednesday, and remnants from the project sparked the flames.

The homeowner was able to get out of the house.

Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading past the garage.

No one was hurt.
