Best Holiday Drinks: Interview with Troy of Hoppy Brewing Company

Eggnog and apple cider sure get a lot of credit around the holidays. Let's not forget an American favorite during this busy time: beer. Hoppy Brewing Company is a staple among the brew-friendly community, and during the holidays, they step up their service and their menu to even higher standards. Check them out for Hoppy Hour Mondays when all pints are $3.50 and pitchers are $12.00 all day long! From 9:30 p.m. to close enjoy Hoppy Hour with half-off appetizers and drink specials. Do you have any drink specials for the holiday season? We have a special beer for the winter. The Hoppy Clause came out the first of November. That's an amped up version of our Hoppy Face Amber Ale finished with Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice Tea. Hoppy Clause is bottled here and is sold here and in stores - it debuted in 1996. It's made in October, is in store by September and is 7.8 % alcohol.

Are these different from last year? Hoppy Claus is one of two special seasonal beers every year and then there's an additional beer special over the holidays each year that is subject to change. We have two special beers that change on a monthly basis that are available until they run out. Hoppy Clause ran out sometime after Christmas last year.

Do you have any holiday events planned? We have all kinds of things planned. We do business events and other private parties. We're open on Thanksgiving and Christmas and will be serving traditional meals on those days. We close early on Christmas Eve, but we're open on Christmas day at 2 p.m. and you can exchange your movie stub for a free pint of beer if you see a movie before you come in.

What seems to be the favorite beer? Hoppy Face Amber Ale. It's really popular all year.

What drinks do you recommend to have on hand for holiday parties? Hoppy Clause is a great one to take home.
