UPDATE: Boy Who Fell From Sugar Bowl Lift Dies

DONNER SUMMIT (CBS13) — The 7-year-old boy who fell about 60 feet to the ground from a ski lift at Sugar Bowl Resort on Sunday has died as a result of his injuries.

The boy was in critical condition for two days since falling at about 11:15 a.m. on Sunday from the the Mount Lincoln Express Chairlift onto hard terrain lacking natural snow. He died some time on Tuesday.

Ski Patrol immediately responded to the scene, where the boy, a member of the Sugar Bowl Ski Team, was transported via helicopter to Renown Medical Center in Reno, where doctors performed surgery to relieve pressure to the boy's brain.

The incident remains under investigation by regulators from the state, working in conjunction with Sugar Bowl Resort personnel.

The boy's name has not been released.
