LODI (CBS13) – A man died after landing his parachute in a Lodi vineyard on Thursday afternoon, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

The man landed in the vineyard off Jahant Road near Highway 99 while skydiving at the Lodi Parachute Center.

Paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene about 2 p.m. but couldn’t revive the man, whose name wasn’t immediately available.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said that agency’s investigation will be limited to checking whether the parachute was properly packed by the appropriate person.

“We will have someone on site tomorrow morning to review the parachute log and parachute packing card,” Ian Gregor said.
