Curtis Park Shoe Store Owner Struggles After Burglary

CURTIS PARK (CBS13) - They broke in through a glass door and half a dozen burglars ran full speed into a Curtis Park shoe store on Freeport Boulevard.

"They really had a good plan," said store owner Art Rodriguez.

They teamed up by splitting up, grabbing different sections of saltwater sandals from Shoe Daca Boutique.

Just when you think they're done, they come back for more, and then they're gone in just 60 seconds.

"It looks like 100 pairs, maybe more," said Rodriguez. "We're still working on the inventory."

It was easily $4000 worth of sandals in stock that were stolen.

"Even though it may only be a few thousand dollars, for someone small like us, that's how we pay our bills," said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez doesn't have money in savings. He can't even afford to fix his car.

"I'm literally riding the bicycle to work right now," Rodriguez.

Now, he's hoping someone recognizes the sandal-stealing smash and grab burglars.

There's a decent shot of the crook's car, a green minivan with a white shaded tire.

They're clues this struggling business owner hopes will lead to names, arrests, and justice.

"We're not going to go down without trying to stick up for our rights and make sure people are held accountable for the things they've done," said Rodriguez.
