Sacramento Police Officers Shoot Pit Bull During Pursuit

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Two Sacramento Police officers on a probation search shot a pit bull after it reportedly acted out against the officers while they were pursuing a suspect Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened in the 3700 block of 18th Avenue in the Oak Park area. The suspect ran through a backyard and jumped some fences with the officers in pursuit when the dog jumped out at the first officer, who shot it.

The pit bull continued after a second officer, who also shot the dog and continued after the suspect.

Animal Control took custody of the dog, which was reportedly not killed by the shootings.

There were 10 people in the home where the probation search took place but just the one suspect was taken into custody.
