Former Rocklin Assistant Track Coach Arrested On Teen Sex Charges

ROCKLIN (CBS13) — A former assistant track coach is under arrest, accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Police say the relationship started about a month ago.

According to Rocklin Police, a parent came forward, concerned something may be going on between their daughter and their daughter's assistant coach.

After an investigation, police would arrest that coach, and his list of charges may not be done mounting.

Investigators say 21-year-old Mark Bevans, a former student turned walk-on coach, started the relationship with one of his team members by sending indecent pictures of one another over cellphones.

But according to the charges, Bevans took it further and had sex with the 15-year-old girl.

He's facing a list of charges including unlawful sexual intercourse and possession of obscene matter of a minor. Officers say the teen may not be his only victim.

Bevans was booked into the Placer County Jail. According to officers, he was with the school for two years, but only part-time as a coach.

The principal says he's very disappointed, and that Bevans went through a full background check.
