Driver Faces Homicide Charges In Crash That Killed Corrections Officer

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A driver is now facing homicide charges in the Oct. 7 crash that killed a veteran corrections officer.

Matthew Luke, 25, is accused of causing a chain reaction crash after he had been drinking. Officers say he had a .05 BAC three hours after the accident.

Lt. Tony Gentile, 41, was on his motorcycle in what was originally thought to be a tragic accident.

Luke is suspected of felony driving under the influence, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was on probation for a previous DUI.

We asked for comment on Thursday from the Gentile family, but they said at this point, they had nothing to say.
