Man Arrested For Murder In Connection With Shooting Near Alta Arden In-N-Out
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sheriff's detectives have arrested a man for murder in connection with the shooting death of a man inside a vehicle in the Alta Arden Expressway area.
Joe Miles, 23, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on Tuesday for allegedly shooting and killing 25-year-old Marquelle Jones, according to Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesperson Lisa Bowman. Jones found dead in a car next to the In-N-Out Burger in the Alta Arden area on September 9.
Miles was a witness in the Barbershop murder case, but Bowman notes the shooting doesn't look to be related to that case.
"The homicide victim, Marquelle Jones, previously testified as a witness in the Barbershop case, but there is no indication that Marquelle's murder was any connection to the Barbershop case or conclusion," Bowman wrote in a statement.
In the 2010 incident, a 30-year-old mother Monique Nelson was killed while protecting her toddler from gunfire that erupted at a crowded South Sacramento barbershop. Two men were convicted of first-degree murder in the case.
Detectives are still investigating the incident and note that they have not identified a motive.
