Sacramento Trying To Sell MLS Officials On City's Plans To Be Home Of League's Newest Team

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento is trying to convince Major League Soccer officials that the city should be the home of its newest team.

MLS Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott arrived Thursday morning to a red-carpet treatment.

"We're very excited about learning about Sacramento and what's been happening with soccer here," Abbott said.

CBS13 had the only camera the the lunchtime meeting between Abbott and Mayor Kevin Johnson.

"They had something on the menu called Sacramento Republic Burger, so the two of us ordered that and I think we're off to a good start," Johnson said. "It's real; I feel real good where we are, I'm trying to be calm, because I'm really excited; I want to go run around, but ..."
