Massive King Fire No Deterrent For Couple's Big Day

CAMINO (CBS13) – Even with a 81,994-acre wildfire in their way, Jamie and Roman Rudy were determined to make their wedding work.

"Whatever happens is going to happen, but we are going down the aisle. May not be this aisle, but it will be some aisle," Jamie said.

When flames started ripping through the Pollock Pines area last week, Jamie and her soon-to-be husband, Roman, said the wedding must go on.

"We not only worried about a wedding possibly being moved or canceled, we were worried about rehearsal dinner," Jamie said.

Jamie's identical twin sister, Julie, planned to hold the rehearsal dinner in her backyard before the King Fire forced her to leave her home.

"Those were the days we were fretting a little bit, with the ash and the heavy smoke," Jamie said.

But luckily, Julie was allowed back into her home and the wedding plans started falling into place once again.

"I'm just happy for it to all turn out the way it has," Roman said.

The wedding was held in Camino, just a few miles from the King Fire area.

Family and friends watched as the two said "I do," knowing the couple's love for one another will outlast the fire that almost canceled their wedding

"My heart is full, for sure," Roman said.
