Woman, 37, Accused Of Lighting Fire At Ripon Business

RIPON (CBS13) – Police have arrested a woman suspected of setting fire to the bathroom of a Ripon office Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Ripon Police Department, authorities were called to Burns Truck and Trailer along W. Santos Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Police were told that a woman had lit the restroom of an office in the building on fire.

Employees confronted the woman, but she is said to have cussed them out and then ran.

Officers later found the woman at the Jimco Truck Stop parking lot. She again tried to run away, but the officers soon found her hiding under a trailer.

The woman, 37-year-old Jessica Marie Utley, was arrested and is now facing a felony arson charge. Police say Utley -- who is reportedly homeless -- also had warrants out for her arrest on burglary and DUI charges.

The bathroom sustained only minor damage, police say.
