Suspect Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency At Sacramento County Jail
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police are investigating why a man in their custody died early Wednesday morning.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were flagged down near 19th and H Streets by a resident in the area who spotted a suspicious man tampering with cars.
The officers made contact with the man and reportedly had a short struggle with him.
Police say officers were eventually able to get the man into a police car and took him to the Sacramento County Jail.
However, it was at the jail when the man had some sort of medical emergency, police say. Officers performed CPR and took him to a nearby hospital, but the man was later pronounced dead.
Police are investigating how the man died. Police note there no use of force was used by officers to get the man into the patrol car.
The man's identity is not known at this time.
