Whatever Happened To Danielle Larude, The Mom Injured In Natomas By Suspected DUI Driver

NATOMAS (CBS13) — It was a horrific car crash that nearly killed a baby's mother.

The pile-up on San Juan and Truxel roads in Natomas left Amai Marcel Martin, 8 days old at the time, with just a scratch. But it also left him without his mother, Danielle, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

The crash was caused by an alleged drunk driver.

CBS13 was there visiting baby Amai as Danielle got a glimpse of her son via Facetime on her sister's phone.

After a month and a half hospital stay, her sister says Danielle is on the road to recovery. She's out of the hospital and busy being a mom to Amai, who is now three months old, healthy and happy.

As for the suspect in the crash, 29-year-old Alvin Singh was seriously injured in the wreck. After he was released from the hospital on Feb. 1, he was taken into custody and remains at the Sacramento County Jail on charges of felony DUI resulting in injury. His next court date is March 10.
