Boston Marathon Bombings Suspect Conviction Revives Sacramento Ties To Tragedy

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — CBS13's Steve Large was blocks away from the home where a Boston Marathon bombings suspect was found in 2013.

Dzokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty on Tuesday on all 30 counts he faced in the attack.

In 2013, a lockdown and search for the marathon bombing suspects turned Boston streets into a ghost town.

CBS13 was live on the air as police found their man in Waterford. CBS13's Steve Large had been in New York covering NBA meetings involving the fate of the Sacramento Kings in days prior to the bombings.

Our camera showed children carried from the scene.

Tsarnaev's captured led to his trial where Sacramento's Jessica Kensky testified. Kensky was a newlywed watching the race with her husband Patrick. When the bomb exploded, she said it felt like she was shot into the air on a rocket.

Jessica eventually lost both her legs. Two years later, her recovery continues to be a full-time job.
