NCAA Rowing Championships Draw Athletes From Across Country To Lake Natoma

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) — College athletes from across the country have converged on Lake Natoma for the NCAA Women's Rowing National Championship.

Just about every major university from across the country is represented from the University of Washington Huskies to the Texas Longhorns to Indiana Hoosier pride and everything else in between.

The economic benefits are spilling over from the shores of Lake Natoma to nearby retail shops and restaurants, and hotel managers are doing their best to reel in those tourist dollars.

Those spending a lot of cash on food, travel and lodging for the collegiate competition say the California sunshine is worth the price.

"It's been great, its beautiful here," said Virginia supporter Stephanie Hudson. "Actually we've been out here for other rowing events. Usually a high school event and we really like it here."
