Controversial Curtis Park Safeway Gas Station Goes Before Sacramento Planning Commission

CURTIS PARK (CBS13) — The controversy over a gas station in Curtis Park is going before the Sacramento Planning Commission on Thursday.

Camy Solberg has lived in Curtis Park for 10 years, and she's worried her neighborhood is changing and not for the better.

"It's a nice quiet neighborhood then you're going to put all these brownstones all along there?" she said.

Camy says she understands the need for some development but what she and other neighbors are most angry about is a proposed gas station.

"What is it like 16 pumps or something? And if I were buying a brownstone, I don't think I'd want to gas station across from me," she said.

The proposed shopping center surrounded by housing development will be anchored by a Safeway. The developer wants a gas station at that Safeway, but residents don't want it, with concerns about traffic congestion.
