Kings Agree On Two-Year Deal With Butler
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Sacramento Kings have agreed on a two-year, $6 million deal with 35-year-old free agent Caron Butler. The second year of the contract is reportedly is a player option.
Butler, a former two-time all-star, spent all of last season with the Detroit Pistons, starting in 21 of them at the small forward position. Only averaging 20.8 minutes per game last year, Butler put up 5.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and one assist per game in an uneventful season.
Butler is expected to come off the bench behind Rudy Gay for some veteran leadership, but most-likely will not see an increase of minutes from last year. His career numbers are impressive: 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals.
Originally drafted 10th overall in the 2002 draft by the Miami Heat, Butler has traveled around the league since then. By previously playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks , Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit, the Kings make this his ninth team in 13 NBA seasons.
