New Beauty Treatment Has Women Microwaving Armpits To Get Rid Of Sweat, Hair

SACRAMENTO (CBS Sacramento) - A new beauty secret is being revealed. According to Life & Style magazine, a new treatment to help get rid of unwanted hair and sweat is making its way into the beauty industry.

A device formed by Miramar Labs microwaves armpits, which is intended reduce the amount of sweat and hair growth. A post on Instagram shows a young lady getting the treatment on her armpit.

"The procedure didn't hurt, but the few days after I was sore," she posted.

The FDA-approved device heats up your skin at hair roots and where sweat glands are located. Although it is similar to the microwave energy that helps heat up food, this device is reportedly much safer.

"It's the same wavelength but the delivery method, depth of penetration or range, and safety profile are totally different," explained Dr. Snehal P. Amin, a certified dermatologic surgeon. "If something is heated up enough, it can be destroyed."

Over 40,000 treatments have been performed and can cost up to thousands of dollars.
