SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — A head-on crash in Sacramento County has claimed the lives of two drivers.

The incident happened on westbound State Route 16 at Murieta South Parkway late Tuesday night. Three vehicles were involved, though one was on a trailer being towed by another vehicle.

Both vehicles caught fire and burned as a result of the crash.

According to California Highway Patrol, a Good Samaritan was able to save the lives of two young children who got trapped in one of the cars.

In all, five people were injured and two were transported to local hospitals.

Both drivers were killed in the crash. Their identities have not been released.
