Margaret Cho Describes Robin Williams As Father Figure In Latest Interview
San Francisco, CA (CBS Sacramento) - Comedian Margaret Cho in a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine talked about the late Robin Williams.
Although Cho was just a teenager when she began watching Robin Williams' stand-up performances, it was then she realized she wanted to make a name for herself. She thought Williams was an amazing performer that could rock any stage and make whoever was going to perform after him completely nervous.
Cho grew up in San Francisco and lived near a comedy club where Williams would perform impromptu shows. She said, "People wanted to see with their own eyes this genius at work. Then I would have to try to keep them in the room."

Cho even mentioned that her stand-up set would be pushed back for Robin Williams. "I would have to go on after. It was horrible. I was like 17. I did it for years! Every time, after him. It was hard, but I learned to be good."
Cho described Robin Williams as a father figure and remembered how he would help her after performances. After Williams died last year, Cho helped organize the Be Robin project.
The charity helps homeless people in San Francisco and the cause was near and dear to William's heart.
Cho said, "He had a clause in his contracts that stipulated a certain percentage of the crew had to be homeless workers. He was really devoted to giving homeless people a way out of poverty. You would ask him for money, and he would give you everything in his pocket. He always had cash on him."
