CARMICHAEL (CBS13) — Two people and a dog were injured after two pit bulls escaped from a home during an apartment fire on Thursday.

Fire officials say when crews tried to enter an apartment on the 6200 block of Coyle Avenue, two pit bulls escaped from the home, and at one point attacked a neighbor dog and then attacked a neighbor.

The dog that was bit was taken to a local veterinarian, while the neighbor was evaluated by fire crews.

The homeowner and owner of the dogs came home in a state firefighters described as “excited,” and wasn’t following the direction of firefighters or Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies. No arrests were made.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury related to the fire, but not the dogs that got loose.
