Nudist Resort Destroyed By Valley Fire To Reopen

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. (AP) - A beloved clothing-optional hot springs resort devastated by a Northern California wildfire last year has announced plans to re-open this year.

Harbin Hot Springs updated its website to say the famed resort may start taking customers as early as late summer.

The Valley Fire whipped through Lake County, killing four people and wiping out 1,300 homes. The Sept. 12 fire torched nearly 120 square miles and caused at least $700 million in insured damages.

The fire left Harbin's hot and cold springs intact but destroyed most of the resort.

A soft opening will include a reception and massage areas for day visitors and campers.

The website warned that resort-goers will have to "rough it" temporarily and that rebuilding the springs to what it once was will take years.
